10 Water Funds
3 Latin American countries
Our work
The Andean Water Funds Platform, born from the Water Funds 2.0 Project funded by the Tinker Foundation and implemented by the Latin American Future Foundation, aims to address the sustainability of Water Funds through a comprehensive analysis and the application of a methodology that considers three key elements: governance, financing, and impact (environmental and social). These elements will be reflected in a tailored Action Plan for each Water Fund.
This platform was established in 2022 with the aim of strengthening the sustainability of 8 Water Funds, along with 2 funds that have joined in the past year, to protect the high Andean ecosystems that provide water to over 22.8 million inhabitants in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
Governance model
PAFA (Plataforma Andina de Fondos de Agua) bases its governance model on a collaborative and participatory structure that promotes collective decision-making and collaboration among different stakeholders.
The platform is comprised of a Board of Directors, which includes representatives from water funds, government institutions, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
This Board of Directors is responsible for setting strategic guidelines, defining policies, and overseeing the actions of the platform. Additionally, active and equitable participation of all members is encouraged, promoting diversity of voices and the inclusion of local perspectives
